Make a homemade thin and crispy pizza crust for a delicious night in.
Ingredients:
  • Olive oil, to grease
  • 250ml (1 cup) lukewarm water
  • 4.50 gm sugar
  • 2 tsp (7g/1 sachet) dried yeast
  • 450g (3 cups) plain flour, sifted
  • 0.60 gm salt
  • 1 140g container pizza sauce, optional
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 220°C, then generously grease two 25cm pizza trays with oil.
  • In a small bowl, mix water and sugar together. Sprinkle yeast over the mixture and let it sit in a warm, draft-free spot for 5 minutes, or until it becomes foamy.
  • Sift flour and salt into a large bowl. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and oil. Stir with a wooden spoon until combined, then use your hands to form a soft, slightly sticky dough.
  • Transfer the dough onto a gently floured surface and knead for 6 minutes until it is nearly smooth. Divide the dough into two portions and place them under a moist, clean tea towel. Allow them to rest in a cozy, draft-free spot for 5 minutes.
  • Roll out each portion of dough to cover greased pizza trays. Optionally, spread the bases with pizza sauce. Bake in preheated oven for 8 minutes or until golden and crisp. (For freezing pizza bases, refer to notes.)
