Spiced beef samosas with fragrant coriander, garam masala, and cumin, encased in crispy wonton wrappers.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 0.5 teaspoon chile powder, or more to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 (6 ounce) package frozen peas
  • 1 tablespoon minced pickled jalapeno pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 (12 ounce) package wonton wrappers
  • vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until beef is browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Then reduce heat to low.
  • Combine coriander, cumin, salt, turmeric, chile powder, and ginger in a pot. Stir in peas and water, then bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove the cover and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until any excess liquid has evaporated.
  • Mix in the jalapenos and garam masala with the beef. Take the mixture off the heat and add the lemon juice. Allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes before handling.
  • Place a generous amount of the beef mixture in the middle of a wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, then fold and seal them securely. Repeat this process with the rest of the filling and wonton wrappers.
  • In a large saucepan, heat 1/2 inch of oil over medium-high heat. Fry samosas in batches until golden brown on each side, about 1 to 2 minutes per side.
