Indulge in rich, decadent dark chocolate for an intense twist on a classic recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ organic all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 1/4 cups butter, softened
  • 2 cups cane sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup semisweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup white vanilla baking chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 325°F and generously coat a 12-cup fluted tube cake pan with cooking spray that includes flour.
  • Set aside 1 tablespoon of flour in a small bowl. In a medium bowl, combine the remaining flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Mix in eggs one at a time, scraping the bowl occasionally, and then add vanilla. Slowly mix the flour mixture into the sugar mixture, alternating with buttermilk, until smooth on low speed. Toss 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips with the reserved flour, then fold the coated chips into the batter. Transfer the batter to a pan.
  • Bake for 55 to 60 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the dish to rest for 20 minutes, then transfer it from the pan to a cooling rack. Let it cool completely for about 1 hour.
  • Place 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips and cream in a small microwavable bowl. Microwave on High for 45 to 60 seconds, stirring every 15 seconds until melted and smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cake. In another small bowl, microwave 1/2 cup white chips on High for 30 to 60 seconds, stirring every 15 seconds until melted. Transfer the melted white chips into a resealable plastic bag, cut a tiny corner off the bag, and squeeze to drizzle over the chocolate glaze on the cake. Allow the cake to sit for 30 minutes before cutting. Store covered at room temperature.
