Impress your family with a decadent chocolate cake adorned as a festive turkey for Thanksgiving!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Milk Chocolate Frosting
  • 1 marshmallow
  • Red colored sugar
  • 35 pieces candy corn
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and generously grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the cake mix, water, oil, and eggs on low speed for 30 seconds, then on medium speed for 2 minutes, making sure to scrape the bowl occasionally. Pour the batter into pans and bake according to the box instructions for 9-inch rounds. Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes before removing them from the pans onto cooling racks. Let them cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • Follow the template to cut one layer. Place the cut pieces in the freezer, uncovered, for 1 hour to make frosting easier.
  • Place the uncut layer on a plate and generously frost the top and sides. Gently place the cutout circle on top of the larger layer and frost it as well. Artfully arrange the head and feet on the circle then frost them to perfection.
  • Cut the marshmallow in half. Dip one half in red sugar and attach it to the head with frosting to create the turkey's wattle. Use the other half of the marshmallow for the turkey's eye. Add candy corn for the beak, claws, and feathers. Store loosely covered.
