Turkey and veggies cobbler with biscuit topping, ideal for cozy nights.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • kosher salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 0.66666668653488 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups chopped cooked turkey
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh chives
  • 0.125 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C), grease a 9x13-inch baking dish, and line a sheet pan with aluminum foil.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook and stir sausage until browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove sausage to a plate, keeping the flavorful drippings in the skillet.
  • Combine sausage drippings and butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and mushrooms until soft, about 4-5 minutes. Sprinkle in flour and cook for 2 minutes until mixture thickens. Pour in chicken broth, stir until smooth, and let it bubble for about 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in sage. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Gently fold in the luscious heavy cream and incorporate the reserved sausage, turkey, and mixed vegetables. Taste and season as needed before transferring everything into the baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt to create the topping. Slowly pour in 1 cup of heavy cream, then continue adding the rest gradually until a wet, sticky dough forms.
  • Scoop generous spoonfuls of dough over the meat and vegetables, making sure to evenly space 15 to 16 balls in total.
  • In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, parsley, chives, and garlic powder. Lightly brush the mixture over each dough ball, then place the baking dish on the prepared sheet pan.
  • Bake until golden brown and bubbling in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes.
  • Take out of the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack for approximately 30 minutes prior to serving.
