Cheesy mayo-infused turkey pot pie with a simple homemade crust baked till golden perfection in a rectangular dish.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups chopped cooked turkey
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 cup chopped green beans
  • 0.25 cup chopped celery
  • 0.25 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.33333334326744 cup vegetable shortening
  • 0.25 cup cold water, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to a piping hot 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Combine turkey, carrots, green beans, celery, green pepper, Cheddar cheese, garlic, dill, salt, and mayonnaise in a large bowl until well mixed. Transfer the filling into a 9x12-inch baking dish.
  • Combine the flour and shortening in a bowl using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles crumbs. Gradually add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface, slightly larger than the baking dish. Lay the dough over the filling so the edges fit over the dish. Make slits in the dough using a sharp knife, then cover the dish with foil.
  • Bake until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling, approximately 40 minutes in the preheated oven.
