Crispy beef kebab sandwich in warm pita with tzatziki and veggies.
Ingredients:
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 0.5 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 pinch curry powder
  • 1 pound beef flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 6 pita bread rounds
Instructions:
  • Create marinade: In a large ceramic bowl, crush onions with the bottom of a glass until juice is released and onions are translucent. Mix in garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, black pepper, turmeric, curry powder, and salt. Add beef and coat well. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight.
  • Create the sauce by blending sour cream, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, dill, and garlic in a bowl until fully mixed. Wrap the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Prepare the broiler by preheating and positioning the oven rack 6 inches from the heat source.
  • Remove the meat from the marinade, gently brushing off excess onions. Discard the marinade. Arrange the meat on a baking sheet in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt to season.
  • Broil until the meat is golden brown and crispy, about 3 minutes per side, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
  • Spoon meat onto pita breads and generously drizzle with flavorful tzatziki sauce before serving.
