Ingredients:
  • 1 (3 1/2 pound) tomahawk rib-eye steak
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • Bring the steak to room temperature by letting it sit out for 30 minutes to an hour before cooking.
  • Preheat the grill to a sizzling 400 to 450 degrees F (200 to 230 degrees C. Generously season steak all over with salt and black pepper.
  • Prepare the grill grates with a light coating of oil or grilling spray. Grill the steak without moving it until it easily releases from the grates, approximately 4 minutes. Flip the steak and grill the other side. Keep grilling and turning occasionally until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the steak reads 125 degrees F (52 degrees C), which should take around 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Place the steak on a cutting board to rest for 15 minutes. Using a knife, remove the steak from the bone in one piece by running it along the inside edge of the bone. Slice the steak against the grain for serving.
