Easy walnut bread with toasted walnuts and basic pantry staples for a nutty treat perfect with tea or coffee.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, or as needed
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) and coat an 8 ½ x 4 ½-1inch loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray. Then, spread walnuts on a baking sheet.
  • Toast walnuts in the oven until golden brown and fragrant, for about 10 minutes. Let cool before using.
  • Combine flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl, whisking to mix well. Add cooled toasted walnuts and stir to incorporate; set aside.
  • Beat one egg in a measuring cup. Pour milk up to the 3/4 cup line. Add oil and vanilla, mix well. Combine with flour mixture until just moistened. Transfer batter to the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes before removing from the pan to cool completely.
