Ingredients:
  • 1 package regular or quick active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (105°F to 115°F)
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
  • Olive or vegetable oil
  • Cornmeal
Instructions:
  • In a medium bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Add in flours, 2 tablespoons of oil, and salt. Stir vigorously for 20 strokes. Let the mixture rest for 20 minutes. Proceed with one of the following options for thin or thick crusts. For thin crusts: Preheat your oven to 425°F and adjust the rack to the lowest position. Grease 2 cookie sheets or 12-inch pizza pans with oil and sprinkle with cornmeal. Divide the dough in half and shape each portion into an 11-inch circle on the prepared sheets. Bake for about 10 minutes until the crust starts to brown. For thick crusts: Preheat your oven to 375°F and adjust the rack to the lowest position. Grease 2 square pans, 8x8x2 inches, with oil and sprinkle with cornmeal. Divide the dough in half and press each portion into the bottom of the pans. Cover and allow the dough to rise in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes, until nearly doubled in size. Bake uncovered for 20 to 22 minutes, or until the crust begins to brown.
