Wisconsin brats simmered in beer with onions, then grilled to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds fresh bratwurst sausages
  • 6 (12 fluid ounce) cans or bottles beer
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 10 hoagie rolls
Instructions:
  • Pierce bratwurst with a fork to ensure they cook evenly without bursting.
  • In a large stockpot, combine beer, onions, butter, and black pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Preheat your outdoor grill to medium-high heat and give the grate a light oiling.
  • Grill bratwurst until golden brown, turning occasionally, for 10 to 14 minutes. Serve hot on hoagie rolls with onions.
