Deliciously spooky witch's cauldron cake pops made with Betty Crocker™ dark chocolate cake mix and Rich & Creamy frosting. Perfect for Halloween!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Delights Super Moist™ Dark Chocolate Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
  • 4 1/2 cups black candy melts
  • 6 teaspoons shortening
  • 1 cup green candy melts
  • 35 paper lollipop sticks
  • Black string licorice, cut into 35 (2-inch) pieces
  • Block of plastic foam
Instructions:
  • Prepare the cake mix following the instructions on the box for a 13x9-inch pan using water, oil, and eggs. Allow the cake to cool. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper. In a large bowl, crumble the cake and mix in the frosting until well combined. Shape the mixture into 2-inch balls and place them on the prepared cookie sheet. Freeze until firm, then store in the refrigerator.
  • In a medium microwave-safe bowl, heat the black candy melts and 4 teaspoons of shortening in the microwave on Medium (50%) power for 1 minute. Stir and continue heating in 15-second intervals until melted and smooth. Repeat this process with the green candy melts and remaining 2 teaspoons of shortening. Dip the tip of a lollipop stick about 1/2 inch into the melted black candy and insert it into a cake ball, no more than halfway. Repeat with the remaining cake balls. Place them back on the cookie sheet and refrigerate for 5 minutes. Take a few out of the refrigerator at a time, dip them in the black candy without tapping off excess, and place them upside down on the cookie sheet. Allow them to set before serving.
  • Place a dollop of green candy on the flat side of each cake ball. Quickly affix the licorice to resemble a handle. Insert the other end of the licorice stick into a foam block. Allow to sit until firm.
