Yankee Corn Bread

Whip up a tasty American corn bread in only 35 minutes!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups yellow, white or blue cornmeal
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F. Grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet generously with shortening or cooking spray. Place the greased skillet in the oven and heat for about 5 minutes until hot.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together milk, butter, and egg until combined. Add all remaining ingredients at once and mix until flour is moistened, leaving the batter lumpy. Remove skillet from oven and pour the batter into it.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm if preferred.
