Crispy air-fried chicken katsu with a flavorful homemade sauce - quick, easy, and irresistibly delicious.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sherry
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast, sliced in half horizontally
  • 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1.5 cups panko bread crumbs
Instructions:
  • Combine ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, sherry, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic in a bowl and whisk until the sugar dissolves. Set aside the flavorful katsu sauce.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Next, arrange the chicken pieces on a pristine work surface and generously season them with salt and pepper.
  • In a flat dish, spread out the beaten eggs. In another flat dish, spread out the bread crumbs. Coat chicken pieces in egg, then bread crumbs, pressing firmly to ensure the bread crumbs adhere to the chicken. Repeat the process for a double coating.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the air fryer basket and coat them with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Air fry the chicken pieces for 10 minutes until golden brown, then flip using a spatula and spritz the tops with nonstick cooking spray. Continue cooking for an additional 8 minutes. Transfer the cooked chicken to a cutting board, slice, and serve with katsu sauce.
