Healthier donuts made in an air fryer with sour cream dough, brushed with butter and cinnamon sugar for a delicious treat.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 2.5 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Combine 1/2 cup white sugar and butter in a bowl, then mix until crumbly. Add egg yolks and stir until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt by sifting them together. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture and half of the sour cream into the sugar-egg mixture, stir to combine. Mix in the remaining flour and sour cream. Refrigerate the dough until needed.
  • Combine a delightful blend of 1/3 cup of sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  • Flatten dough on a floured surface to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out 9 large circles, then remove a small circle from the center of each to form doughnut shapes.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for perfectly crispy results.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the doughnuts, ensuring they're evenly coated on both sides.
  • Add half of the doughnuts to the air fryer basket and air fry them for 8 minutes. Next, brush the cooked doughnuts with the leftover melted butter and quickly coat them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Repeat with the rest of the doughnuts.
