Enhance tofu with crispy quinoa flakes, fresh herbs, and nutritional yeast for a flavorful air-fried dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (8 ounce) container extra-firm tofu
  • 0.25 cup cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened soy milk
  • 0.25 cup quinoa flakes
  • 0.25 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh oregano
  • 1 tablespoon minced flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh sage leaves
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • Wrap the block of tofu in a clean towel and press it with a weight to extract the liquid.
  • Heat up the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Prepare a breading station with 3 shallow bowls and one flat plate. Place cornstarch in one bowl, unsweetened soy milk in another, and combine quinoa flakes, nutritional yeast, oregano, sage, rosemary, and pepper in the third bowl, mixing well with a fork. Reserve the plate for the coated tofu.
  • Cut the slab of tofu into easy-to-handle pieces, each about 1/2-inch thick and 2 inches in length and width.
  • First, coat each slice in cornstarch. Next, dip each piece in soy milk. Then, cover the slices with the quinoa flake mixture, shaking off any excess. Place the coated tofu pieces on a plate. Fill the air fryer basket with the coated pieces without overcrowding.
  • Crisp tofu in the air fryer without flipping for about 10 minutes until golden brown. Avoid shaking to keep the light coating intact. Once crispy, remove and repeat with remaining pieces. Serve warm.
