Delicious air-fried vegan tofu bowl with vibrant Asian flavors, perfect for any mealtime.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (12 ounce) package extra-firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch, divided
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, or as needed
  • 3 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 0.33333334326744 cup frozen shelled edamame (green soybeans)
  • 0.5 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning, divided
  • 1 drop soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 drop chili oil, or to taste
  • 2 cups cooked brown rice
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 0.25 teaspoon furikake (Japanese nori seasoning), or to taste
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Place tofu on a plate, cover with another plate, and weigh down with a 3- to 5-pound object. Press tofu for 20 to 30 minutes, then drain off the liquid.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°F (95°C) and the air fryer to 400°F (200°C following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Cut the tofu into cubes by slicing it lengthwise and then dividing the tofu blocks into eight pieces. Coat them with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.
  • Air fry until golden and crispy for about 10 minutes. Then, pop onto a baking sheet and keep warm in the oven.
  • 1. Set up a steamer in a saucepan filled with water below the steamer. Bring water to a boil. 2. Add carrots, edamame, 1/4 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning, and a drop of soy sauce. 3. Cover and steam until tender, 2 to 6 minutes.
  • Once the vegetables are steaming, combine the remaining soy sauce, brown sugar, and chili oil in a pan. Thicken the mixture by stirring in the remaining cornstarch, adding water if needed. Bring it to a simmer. Coat the tofu in the warm sauce in a bowl. Finally, sprinkle with the remaining everything bagel seasoning.
  • Place the cooked rice in a bowl, layer with veggies, tofu, avocado, sprinkle with furikake and pepper flakes. Serve and enjoy while warm.
