Skip takeout with this quick and budget-friendly Asian-inspired recipe. Hasselback-style tofu absorbs more flavor, be gentle when handling. Hot oil over ginger, chili, and shallots enhances their taste. Easily double for a crowd, store extra garlic oil for later.
Ingredients:
  • 300g pkt Nature’s Kitchen Silken Tofu
  • 60ml (¼ cup) peanut oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 2cm-piece fresh ginger, peeled, cut into matchsticks
  • 1 long fresh red chilli, thinly sliced diagonally
  • 1 green shallot, thinly sliced diagonally
  • Steamed white rice, to serve
Instructions:
  • After draining and drying the tofu, place it on a chopping board. Use two wooden spoons to guide your knife and carefully slice the tofu into 8 pieces without cutting all the way through.
  • Gently arrange tofu in an oven-safe dish that fits inside an air fryer, then evenly pour soy sauce on top. Air fry at 180C for 12 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
  • In a small frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat until just smoking. Add garlic and cook, stirring, until light golden in color, for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Sprinkle tofu with ginger, chili, and half of the shallot. Drizzle with hot garlic oil. Garnish tofu with the remaining shallot and serve with rice. Enjoy our video guide for making this delicious Air Fryer Hasselback Tofu with Sizzling Garlic recipe!
