Festive almond shortbread cookies with a hint of liqueur that are irresistible to share.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon amaretto liqueur
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup sliced almonds, lightly toasted
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, beat together butter, sugar, orange zest, amaretto, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy using an electric mixer. Slowly add flour with mixer on low speed until dough forms. Gently fold in almonds with a spatula. Shape dough into a log, freeze for 40 minutes, then refrigerate for 20 minutes before using.
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Form dough into small balls and gently press down to slightly flatten. Arrange the balls 1 inch apart on a baking sheet without greasing. Bake until the edges turn golden, approximately 12 minutes.
  • Allow the baked goods to rest on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool down completely.
