Elevate your stir-fry with a blend of honey, teriyaki sauce, Chinese five-spice powder, and red pepper flakes for a delicious spin on a traditional Chinese favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup toasted sesame seeds, divided
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 5 (6 ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into chunks
  • 5 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 0.5 yellow onion, cut into wedges
  • 0.5 cup green bell pepper, seeded and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
Instructions:
  • Combine flour, sesame seeds, black pepper, five-spice powder, and red pepper flakes in a large resealable plastic bag. Add chicken pieces a few at a time, shake to coat, and transfer to a platter.
  • In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add chicken and sear both sides until golden, about 5 minutes. Set chicken aside. Stir in onion wedges and bell pepper slices, cook until slightly browned, about 2 minutes. Set aside.
  • Add the chicken back into the skillet over low heat. Stir in teriyaki marinade, 1/4 cup sesame seeds, and honey until the sauce thickens. Mix in the onion and bell pepper, warm through, and serve.
