Delicious anise drop cookies - perfect with coffee or tea.
Ingredients:
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons anise extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cream together smooth shortening, sugar, and eggs in a medium bowl. Stir in the anise extract. Combine flour and baking powder, then stir into wet ingredients. Roll spoonfuls into balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Frost if desired after cooling.
