Delight in a classic apple and bread crumb dessert, Brown Betty.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups soft white bread crumbs (about 6 slices bread)
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 large apples, peeled, cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1 cup apple cider
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly coat a 2-quart casserole with cooking spray.
  • Combine bread crumbs with rich, melted butter in a medium bowl. In a separate small bowl, blend together brown sugar and aromatic cinnamon.
  • Layer half of the apple slices in the casserole dish followed by half of the brown sugar mixture and half of the bread crumb mixture. Repeat the layers and drizzle cider over the top.
  • Bake until apples are tender, topping is golden brown, and serve warm.
