Indulge in rich, spiced apple butter, simmered slowly for that homemade touch.
Ingredients:
  • 12 medium Granny Smith or other cooking apples, peeled and cut into fourths
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions:
  • Combine all ingredients in a large 5- to 6-quart slow cooker.
  • Slowly simmer the mixture covered for 8 to 10 hours until the apples are incredibly tender.
  • Mash the apples using a potato masher or large fork.
  • Simmer gently without a lid for 1 to 2 hours, stirring now and then, until the mixture has thickened significantly. Allow to cool for approximately 2 hours.
  • Transfer the luscious apple butter into a container, seal it, and refrigerate for up to three weeks of delightful enjoyment.
