Moist spiced apple cake with brown sugar, perfect for breakfast or any time of day.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.66666668653488 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup peeled and chopped apples
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • Prepare the baking dish by greasing it with butter or oil.
  • Combine flour, fragrant cardamom, leavening agents, and salt in a bowl, and whisk until well blended.
  • Cream together white sugar, butter, and 1/2 cup brown sugar until creamy. Mix in buttermilk and eggs until smooth. Slowly add the flour mixture until just combined. Gently fold in apples and pour the batter into the baking dish.
  • Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and pecans in a bowl; then, evenly sprinkle over batter. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and let the uncovered baking dish sit at room temperature for 30 minutes until slightly warmer.
  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven until the topping turns golden brown, around 45 minutes.
