Apple pie-filled chimichanga dessert burritos, deep-fried & rolled in cinnamon sugar for a deliciously indulgent treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
  • 0.5 cup cinnamon sugar
  • 15 (6 inch) flour tortillas
  • 1.5 cups oil for frying
  • 15 toothpicks
Instructions:
  • Warm up the apple pie filling in a small pot over gentle heat for approximately 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through.
  • Spread the cinnamon sugar evenly in a shallow dish.
  • Fill each tortilla with a generous 1 1/2 tablespoons of filling, fold the sides in, roll up like a burrito, and secure with a toothpick.
  • Warm oil in a spacious saucepan over medium heat.
  • In batches, fry tortillas in hot oil until golden and crunchy, about 1 to 2 minutes per side with the seam side down. Pat dry on paper towels. Remove toothpicks and roll chimichangas in cinnamon sugar until coated.
