Apple Cranberry Crisp: A delightful twist on a classic Thanksgiving side, combining sweet apples and tart cranberries with a crunchy topping.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups quick cooking oats
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.33333298563957 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.33333298563957 cup butter flavored shortening, melted
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 (16 ounce) can whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 5 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Combine oats, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Add melted shortening and water, mix until crumbly.
  • Combine cranberry sauce and cornstarch in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, then stir in the apples and spread into an 8x8 inch glass baking dish. Top with crumbled oat mixture.
  • Place the dish in the oven and bake until the apples are tender, for about 30 to 35 minutes. Serve the dish warm.
