Apple-filled cake with luscious cream cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (8 ounce) package reduced-fat cream cheese
  • 0.25 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups chopped apples
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 0.75 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2.5 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together cream cheese and confectioners' sugar until silky smooth. In another bowl, beat butter and 1 cup of white sugar until fluffy. Gradually add eggs one at a time, beating well. Gently fold in apples and vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder together, then add to the apple mixture. Gently fold in the sour cream until just combined. Pour half of the batter into the prepared tube pan, layer with the cream cheese mixture, and then top with the remaining batter.
  • Combine walnuts, a precise amount of 2 1/2 tablespoons of white sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl; then generously sprinkle over the batter.
  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
