Delicious apple mincemeat pie with a flaky crust, showcasing the perfect blend of sweet apples and savory mincemeat, ideal for cozy autumn and winter days.
Ingredients:
  • 4 apples - peeled, cored and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups prepared mincemeat (such as None Such®)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 package of refrigerated pastry for double-crust pie (such as Pillsbury®
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon water
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, cook apples, butter, and lemon juice until tender, stirring often, for 8 to 10 minutes. Add sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Combine with mincemeat and walnuts until mixed well. Set aside the pie filling.
  • Place pie crust in 9-inch dish; add filling. Moisten bottom crust edge. Top with second crust, seal by crimping with a fork. Cut 4 steam vents. Mix egg yolk with water, brush over top crust.
  • Preheat the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Lower the oven temperature, cover the crust edges with foil, and bake until golden and bubbly, 30-35 minutes.
