Apple pie meets sticky buns for a delightful twist!
Ingredients:
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup crushed walnuts
  • 1 Golden Delicious apple, diced
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle caffeinated citrus-flavored soda (such as Mountain Dew®)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Combine both cans of crescent rolls into a double crust by rolling each piece of dough to a 9x13-inch rectangle, ensuring the seams stay intact. Place one dough sheet on top of the other.
  • Combine 1/2 cup white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, crushed walnuts, and diced apples in a bowl, then sprinkle evenly over the dough.
  • Roll the dough lengthwise into a long tube, then slice into 1-inch pieces. Arrange the rolls in the prepared dish with the swirls facing upwards.
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt butter with 1 1/2 cups of white sugar. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and whisk in citrus-flavored soda. Pour the mixture over the cinnamon rolls.
  • Bake until golden brown and fully cooked in the middle, about 30 minutes. Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes. Invert rolls onto a baking sheet for the sticky sauce to drizzle over.
