Indulgent apple and cranberry upside-down dessert with a buttery sweet twist.
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 medium cooking apple, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water or milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°. Melt butter in a round pan (9x1 1/2 inches) or square pan (8x8x2 inches) in the oven. Sprinkle with brown sugar, layer apple slices on top, and spoon cranberry sauce between the slices.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on low speed to beat the remaining ingredients for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl constantly. Increase the speed to medium and continue beating for 3 minutes, occasionally scraping the bowl. Pour the batter over the apples.
  • Bake the cake for 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Run a knife along the edges of the cake to loosen it from the pan. Invert a heatproof serving plate over the pan, flip it over, and let it sit for a few minutes. Allow the cake to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
