Try this delicious apple oat crumble for a satisfying baked dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups sliced peeled Granny Smith apples
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/3 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter or margarine
  • 6 tablespoons Cool Whip frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • Additional grated orange peel, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Place apple slices in an ungreased 8-inch square (2-quart) glass baking dish, then sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of orange peel and orange juice.
  • Combine oats, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a medium bowl. Use a pastry blender or fork to incorporate butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle over the apples.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned. Serve in dessert bowls and top each serving with a dollop of whipped topping. Finish with a garnish of orange peel.
