Easy apple pie with a delicious praline topping. Perfect for autumn.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 cups chopped peeled tart apples (about 2 medium)
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup Cool Whip frozen whipped topping, thawed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch square pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine flour, 3/4 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and baking soda.
  • Use a pastry blender or fork to blend in 3/4 cup of butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add apples and egg, then press the mixture firmly into the pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until it puffs up in the center.
  • In a 1-quart saucepan, blend all topping ingredients except whipped topping and bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir constantly and let it boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
  • Take out the apple layer from the oven and generously drizzle the hot topping over the warm apples, ensuring it's spread evenly. Pop it back into the oven and bake for an additional 4 to 6 minutes until the topping is bubbling. Let it cool completely for about 1 1/2 hours, then use a serrated knife to cut it into squares. Serve with a dollop of whipped topping.
