Apple-studded loaf cake with luscious chunky applesauce for ultimate moistness and flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chunky applesauce
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and generously grease the bottom of a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat brown sugar and butter on high speed for 2 minutes. Add egg, vanilla, and applesauce, then mix well. Add flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves, stirring until combined. Mix in raisins and nuts. Pour batter into pan.
  • Bake for 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 15 minutes. Gently loosen the sides of the loaf from the pan, then transfer to a wire rack. Let it cool completely for about 1 hour before slicing.
