Elevate your dish with a zesty Asian fusion of ginger, soy sauce, sesame, and wasabi.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 1 teaspoon wasabi powder or prepared horseradish
  • 2 pounds tuna steaks, 3/4 to 1 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons grated gingerroot
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seed, toasted if desired
Instructions:
  • Combine all the ingredients for the Wasabi Aioli in a small bowl, then cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • For optimal marinating, slice large tuna steaks into 8 serving pieces. Combine vegetable oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger root, and garlic in a shallow glass or plastic dish or resealable plastic bag. Add the tuna and ensure it is evenly coated with the marinade. Refrigerate and turn once during the 2 to 4-hour marinating span.
  • Preheat your grill. Take the tuna out of the marinade; save the marinade. Grill the tuna about 4 inches from the heat for 10 to 15 minutes, brushing with marinade and flipping once until it flakes easily with a fork. Discard any leftover marinade. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with Wasabi Aioli.
