Elevate French toast by adding crispy bacon and transforming it into a decadent and irresistible bacon-stuffed French toast casserole - a surefire hit for any breakfast gathering!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound bacon
  • 0.5 cup butter, sliced into pats
  • 12 slices bread
  • 1.5 tablespoons ground cinnamon, divided, or more to taste
  • 1.5 tablespoons white sugar, divided, or more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, divided, or more to taste
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg, or more to taste
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 5 eggs, beaten
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet, sizzle the bacon over medium-high heat, flipping occasionally, until perfectly crisp and golden brown, approximately 10 minutes. Rest the bacon on paper towels to drain.
  • Set your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place one-third of the butter pats on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Layer 6 slices of bread on top of the butter, overlapping as needed. Add bacon slices on top of the bread.
  • Season bacon slices with a tantalizing mix of 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar, and a hint of nutmeg. Gently place a portion of the butter pats over the bacon and cover with the remaining bread slices for a delightful finish.
  • In a bowl, combine milk, eggs, the rest of the cinnamon, remaining white sugar, remaining brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture over the bread in the baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining butter pats over the top.
  • Bake until perfectly golden and firm, for 35 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before enjoying.
