Indulge in a mouthwatering baked apple dessert for a delicious twist on a traditional treat.
Ingredients:
  • 4 apples (such as Golden Delicious or Granny Smith)
  • 56.10 gm sultanas
  • 8.80 gm vanilla essence
  • 32.00 gm brown sugar
  • 40.00 ml slivered almonds, toasted
  • 2.50 gm mixed spice
  • low-fat custard, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180C. Core the apples with a small sharp knife, ensuring to keep them whole and with bases intact. Squeeze lemon juice into the apple cavities before placing the apples upright in a ceramic baking dish.
  • Mix together sultanas, vanilla essence, sugar, almonds, and spice. Fill each apple with the sultana mixture. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until the apples are tender. Serve warm with custard.
