Indulgent baked French toast casserole with praline topping, perfect for special occasions like Mother's Day or Christmas breakfast.
Ingredients:
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch slices
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Butter the 9x13-inch baking dish generously.
  • Combine eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl. Dip bread slices in the mixture and layer them in the baking dish. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine pecans, brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon nutmeg in a bowl, then evenly spread the mixture over the bread in the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes until cooked through and golden brown. Sprinkle French toast generously with confectioners' sugar before serving.
