Fruity green apple French toast casserole - a delightful twist on a breakfast favorite for the whole family to enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • cooking spray
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 0.5 cup half-and-half
  • 1 (8 ounce) loaf French bread, cut into small cubes
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 3 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored, and cut into small dice
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350°F (175°C) and generously coat a 7x11-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, vigorously whisk together eggs, half-and-half, milk, white sugar, and vanilla extract. Add bread cubes and mix until evenly coated. Allow to rest until bread is moist, for at least 10 minutes.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter until sizzling. Add apples and brown sugar, ensuring sugar is well-coated in butter. Sprinkle in cinnamon and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes until apples are warmed through but still slightly crisp.
  • Add the apple mixture to the bread mixture, then transfer everything to the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake until the top is golden and the center is slightly soft, 35 to 45 minutes in a preheated oven.
