Overnight baked French toast - a delectable make-ahead breakfast dish topped with berries and syrup for a delightful morning indulgence.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, cut diagonally in 1 inch slices
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1.5 cups half-and-half cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.75 cup butter
  • 1.3333333730698 cups brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
Instructions:
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter and layer slices of bread on the bottom.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour the mixture over bread slices, cover, and chill in the refrigerator overnight.
  • The following morning, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In the meantime, melt together butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan until bubbly.
  • Gently drizzle the egg mixture over the bread.
  • Bake uncovered in a preheated oven for 40 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh berries and drizzle with syrup.
