Simple and elegant, this baked pear dessert requires just four ingredients.
Ingredients:
  • 2 just ripe Beurre Bosc pears, peeled, cored, halved lengthways, leaving stems intact
  • 160ml (2/3 cup) maple flavoured syrup
  • 45g (1/3 cup) pecans
  • 4 low-fat ice-cream slices
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 230°C. Cut four 50cm-long sheets of non-stick baking paper. Place a pear half, cut side down, in the center of each sheet of baking paper.
  • Drizzle each pear with a tablespoon of maple syrup and wrap them in parchment paper, tying securely with string. Bake in a preheated oven for 17 minutes. Add pecans to the tray and bake for another 3 minutes until the pears are tender and the pecans are toasted.
  • Remove the string from each bundle, place each pear on a slice of ice cream, then generously drizzle with the leftover maple syrup and top with scattered pecans for extra crunch.
