Timeless Banana Bread recipe featured in Betty Crocker Cookbook for its quick prep and delicious outcome. A must-have favorite for all home cooks.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups mashed very ripe bananas (3 to 4 medium)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired
Instructions:
  • Place the oven rack on the lower position to ensure even baking. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease only the bottoms of two 8 1/2x4 1/2x2 1/2-inch loaf pans or one 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine sugar and butter. Mix in eggs until fully blended. Add bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla, then beat until smooth. Gently fold in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Stir in nuts and pour into pans.
  • Bake 8-inch loaves for about 1 hour, 9-inch loaf for about 1 1/4 hours until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool for 10 minutes. Gently loosen the sides of the loaves and remove them from the pans, placing them top side up on a wire rack. Cool completely for about 2 hours before slicing. Keep tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 4 days or refrigerate for up to 10 days.
