Buttermilk and vanilla create moist, flavorful loaves.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 1.5 cups mashed bananas
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.25 cups buttermilk
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Combine the shortening and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one by one, beating thoroughly after each addition. Incorporate bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder, and soda to the mixture. Fold in nuts if preferred and transfer the batter into two greased 9x5 inch pans.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
