Sizzling tofu burger with spicy chili sauce and creamy hummus is a crowd-pleaser for everyone.
Ingredients:
  • 500g block firm tofu
  • 36.40 gm olive oil
  • 20.00 ml red wine vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 Turkish pide loaf, cut into 4
  • 125.00 ml hommus dip
  • 2 large iceberg lettuce leaves, shredded
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • Hot chilli sauce, to serve
Instructions:
  • Slice the tofu block into four thick slices lengthwise. Mix oil, vinegar, and garlic in a shallow ceramic dish. Add tofu and coat it in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours if you have the time, flipping it over once.
  • Heat up a chargrill or barbecue to medium-high. Grill tofu for 2 minutes on each side until nicely charred.
  • While bread is being split, toast it lightly on both sides until golden. Spread a generous amount of creamy hummus over each bread base. Arrange fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes, sliced onions, and savory tofu on top. Finish by drizzling with a spicy hot chilli sauce before covering with the other slice of bread.
