Master the art of baking with this foolproof homemade bread recipe for a delicious, irresistible loaf.
Ingredients:
  • 1 kg strong bread flour
  • 625 ml tepid water
  • X3 7 g sachets of dried yeast or 30g fresh yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 level tablespoon fine sea salt
  • flour for dusting
Instructions:
  • Creating a well: - On a clean surface, mound the flour and make a large well in the center. - Pour half of the water into the well, then add yeast, sugar, and salt. - Stir the mixture with a fork until combined. Bringing the dough together: - Gradually incorporate the flour from the edges of the well without breaking the walls. - Once you reach a thick consistency, add the remaining water and mix until less sticky. - Use floured hands to knead the dough until smooth and elastic. First proofing: - Dust the dough with flour, place it in a bowl, cover with cling film, and let it double in size for about 30 minutes in a warm, draft-free spot. Second proofing and shaping: - After doubling in size, deflate the dough briefly. - Shape or flavor the dough as desired and let it proof for another 30 minutes to an hour until doubled in size again. Baking the bread: - Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4. - Gently transfer the dough onto a floured baking tray and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. - To check for doneness, tap the bottom of the bread – if it sounds hollow, it's ready. - Let it cool on a rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
