Basil Pecan Sandies

Elevate your holiday dessert spread with fragrant basil pecan cookies.
Ingredients:
  • 5 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 300°F. In a food processor, combine basil and sugar and process on high speed until basil is finely chopped.
  • In a 3-quart saucepan, gently melt butter over medium-low heat. Add the basil mixture, flour, salt, and cinnamon, stirring well. Mix in pecans and vanilla before taking off the heat.
  • Place 1/4 cupfuls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet and gently flatten to 1/4-inch thickness using the bottom of a drinking glass.
  • Bake for 40 minutes or until beautifully golden. Transfer from the baking sheet to a cooling rack.
