Tender sous vide pork ribs with a flavorful barbecue sauce finish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 pound pork spareribs
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon five-spice powder, or to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring, or to taste
  • 0.5 cup barbecue sauce, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Combine salt and sugar in a small bowl, then generously sprinkle all over the ribs. Coat the ribs with red pepper flakes, five-spice powder, and black pepper. Place the ribs into a large vacuum-seal bag and pour in the liquid smoke before sealing the bag.
  • Place the bag in a heat-proof container filled with water and use a sous vide cooker to set the temperature to 140 degrees F (60 degrees C). Let it cook for 8 hours.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 450 degrees F (230 degrees C), positioning the rack 6 inches from the sizzling heat. Get ready to broil by placing a wire rack on a baking sheet.
  • Remove the ribs from the bag and arrange them on the baking sheet. Brush the ribs generously with barbecue sauce.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until bubbly on one side for 4 to 5 minutes, then flip and bake until the other side bubbles for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
