Spicy beef, onion, and green chili layered between flaky biscuits, baked until golden perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1.25 pounds lean ground beef
  • 0.5 cup chopped onion
  • 0.25 cup chopped green chile pepper
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough
  • 1.5 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Brown the ground beef, onion, and green chile pepper in a large skillet until cooked through, then drain the excess fat. Add tomato sauce, chili powder, and garlic salt to the skillet, and simmer while you make the biscuits.
  • Divide the biscuit dough into 10 pieces and gently separate each piece into 2 layers. Press 10 biscuit halves onto the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish to create the bottom crust. Save the remaining 10 biscuit halves for the top crust.
  • Take the meat mixture off the heat and mix in 1/2 cup of shredded cheese, sour cream, and egg until well combined. Spread this mixture over the bottom crust. Place the remaining biscuit halves on top to form the top crust, then sprinkle the remaining cheese evenly over the top.
  • Bake until biscuits are a deep golden brown color, about 25 to 30 minutes in a preheated oven.
