Generational favorite: Affordable, quick beef and noodles for a satisfying family dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 pinch dried thyme
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 4 cups egg noodles
Instructions:
  • Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear and brown the steak on all sides in batches for about 5 minutes. Transfer the seared steak to a plate.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat and cook onion until soft, for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Combine the steak with the onion in the skillet, then pour in the beef stock and season with bay leaves, thyme, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to reach a boil, then lower the heat, cover, and simmer gently until the steak is tender, approximately 50 minutes.
  • Add peas and cornstarch to the steak mixture, simmer without covering until the sauce thickens, approximately 10 minutes.
  • While waiting, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add egg noodles and cook until al dente, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Ladle the savory beef mixture over a bed of tender noodles.
