Juicy meatloaf with rich brown gravy, perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 0.75 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 0.5 cup chili sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons minced onion
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons water
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • Mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, chili sauce, egg, salt, and freshly ground black pepper in a large bowl until well combined. Press the mixture into an 8x4-inch loaf pan and place on a rack in a roasting pan.
  • Cook in the preheated oven until the meat is fully cooked without any pink, approximately 1 hour. Use an instant-read thermometer in the center of the loaf - it should register a minimum of 160°F (70°C). Rest for 10 minutes as you prepare the gravy.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter until sizzling. Sauté mushrooms and onions until tender. Pour in beef broth, simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Combine water and cornstarch, then whisk into the broth. Cook until the gravy thickens, about 1 minute.
