Crispy cracker-coated fried walleye fillets for a deliciously flavorful dish.
Ingredients:
  • 4 walleye fillets
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups crushed saltine crackers
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Instructions:
  • Collect all the necessary ingredients.
  • Ensure the walleye fillets are boneless and skinless. Cut them into smaller pieces if needed for easier handling.
  • In a shallow bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, pepper, and salt. In another shallow bowl, add beaten eggs. Spread cracker crumbs on a plate.
  • Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large cast iron skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  • Coat fillets in flour mixture, then dip in beaten egg, and coat evenly with cracker crumbs before setting aside on a plate.
  • Using tongs, gently submerge 2 fillets into hot oil and fry until they turn a golden brown color, about 3 minutes on each side. Place them on a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat the process with the rest of the fillets and serve with lemon wedges.
